On Wednesday Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ronna Romney released the following statement, directed towards the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over the Flint water crisis:

“It’s disgraceful that the EPA, on their first visit to Flint since this crisis came to light, has focused their efforts on deflecting blame away from their agency. While the state has been out front providing assistance to city residents, the EPA continues to duck their responsibility for suppressing the Del Toral memo and failing to take action to protect Flint residents sooner.”

“Instead of accepting accountability for their role in this crisis, the EPA is looking to place the blame solely at someone else’s feet. This is a noticeable difference from the reaction by Michigan officials, which, aside from donating a tremendous amount of volunteer hours and resources to ensuring Flint families have access to clean water, have placed their focus on finding solutions to prevent this from ever happening again.”
